Preparedness focuses on understanding how a disaster might impact the community and how education, outreach and training can build capacity to respond to and recover from a disaster. During the preparation phase, the Social Media Team is busy monitoring Facebook posts, verifying and sharing pertinent resources and information, and watching for incoming messages. The Dispatch Team works on getting volunteer dispatchers on board, and starts a list of local contacts and resources. The Core Team works with local authorities to offer assistance and coordinate rescue plans so that dispatching can begin immediately.
