Are employees wearing company issued lab coats or uniforms?

Corrective Action for uniforms

  • Advise line lead/supervisor of improper use of aprons or lab coats

Are hair/beard nets being worn properly?

  • Hairnets should be worn OVER the ears
  • Must be large enough to cover hair
  • Not tied at base of head
  • Using two hairnets to provide proper coverage is acceptable

Corrective Action for hairnets

  • Advise line lead/supervisor of improper use, show employee correct way to wear the hairnet. 
  • If torn, send employee to the washroom for a new one.

Are Gloves being worn properly? Tears/Holes?

No rips or tears / being changed frequently or when task dictates

Corrective Action for gloves

  • Advise line lead/supervisor of improper use, show employee correct way to wear the gloves. 
  • If torn, employee must leave the line to wash hands and put on a new pair.

Are Safety Glasses & Face Masks being worn properly?

  • Face masks should cover mouth and nose
  • If mask appears dirty or wet, give employee a new one
  • Safety glasses should be pushed up to top of the nose

Corrective Action for Safety Glasses and Face Masks

  • Advise line lead/supervisor of improper use, show employee correct way to wear the Protective Equipment.
  • Replace dirty masks
  • If employee has lost their assigned safety glasses, alert supervisor and record their information. This information will be reported to their agency and they will deduct $5 from their paycheck for a new pair.

No Jewelry?

  • Only plain wedding bands are allowed

  • Employees must remove jewelry and put them away in their vehicle or Hartybake provided lockers.

No excess perfume noted/smelled?

  • Excessive perfume can irritate others, inhibiting their ability to work efficiently
  • Some people are allergic to specific sents

  • Employees must rinse off excessive perfume or change lab coat if it was sprayed.

No nail polish or false nails, fingernails must be clean & short

  • No False nails
  • No long nails
  • No Nail polish

Corrective Action for nails

  • Employees must cut nails/remove false nails
    • If refused, they are NOT allowed to work in the facility
  • Employees may purchase nail polish remover, remove nail polish, and return back to work

No false lashes?

Corrective Action for False Lashes

  • Employees must remove false lashes
    • If refused the are NOT allowed in the facility 

Are employees wearing protective footwear?

  • Shoe must cover entire foot
  • Slip resistant shoes are recommended but not required

Corrective Action for incorrect footwear

  • Employees may leave to retrieve proper footwear
    • If refused the are NOT allowed in the facility 

No evidence of food, drink, tobacco, candy, or cough drops found outside of designated area

  • Report to Supervisor/Line lead
  • Instruct employee to dispose it

No cell phones (use wand)

Only night shift supervisor & maintenance can have cell phones

  • Make Supervisor/ Line Lead aware
  • Collect Cellphone and allow them to put it with their belongings during break

Employees only use blue company issued metal detectable bandages

Corrective Action for Metal detectable Band-aid

  • Make Supervisor/ Line Lead aware
  • Give them a metal detectable band-aid from the first aid box
    • Make sure to sign out any supplies taken from the first aid box

  • Remind QC techs of the correct frequency of checks 

Are weights & measures being taken by both the QC Tech and the Line Lead or Supervisor?

Alternating every 30 minutes, not at the same time so the computer never goes in the red

  • Remind QC Tech/Lead/Supervisor of the correct frequency of checks
  • every 30 minutes
    • QC checks and Lead/Supervisor checks must alternate checks so the time DOES NOT exceed 15 minutes.
