{"id":5699,"date":"2023-01-02T08:00:56","date_gmt":"2023-01-02T08:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/switch-guest-to-member\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T11:20:44","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T11:20:44","slug":"switch-guest-to-member","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/switch-guest-to-member\/","title":{"rendered":"How Do I Switch a User to a Builder\/Vice Versa?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There may be times when you need to adjust someone\u2019s access in your Process Street organization, either to give them more control or to limit what they can see or do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Upgrading a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/guest-external\/\">Guest<\/a>\u00a0to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/what-is-a-free-member\/\">User<\/a>\u00a0gives them more access, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/what-is-a-full-member\/\">Builder<\/a>\u00a0gives them yet more access.<\/p>\n<p>To switch a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/managing-organization\/\">Guest to a User, or a Builder to an Admin<\/a>, or to change <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/user-permissions\/\">user permissions<\/a> in general, you first need to be in your <a href=\"https:\/\/brightstar.process.st\/organizations\/manage\/users\">organization manager<\/a> area, which is only accessible to admins.<\/p>\n<p>Once there, click the existing user type, and you&#8217;ll be shown a list of the other available user types.
