You automatically share the details of that call in your sales channel once the\u00a0workflow run\u00a0is complete<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ve set up and scheduled the first day for your new hire to start work. You complete a task to notify your team and announce it as a message in your \u201cannouncements\u201d channel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to set up an automation with Slack<\/h2>\n<p>First up, you\u2019ll want to add a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/form-fields\/\">Snippet form field<\/a> into the workflow you are going to create an automation for. This allows you to combine static and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/variables\/\">variable<\/a> fields into a message which you will use later in this automation.<\/p>\n<p>Give your snippet a name in the label field, create the content of your message and Publish changes to your workflow. Use the magic wand icon to add variables into the body of your message.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13080\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/snippet.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro tip:<\/strong> You can add formatting to your snippet message, @mention users, create hyperlinks and add emojis. Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/zapier.com\/help\/doc\/tips-formatting-your-slack-messages\">formatting for Slack<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;re done editing, click your workflow&#8217;s name to open it in view mode, and you will see the <strong>\u201cTriggers and<\/strong> <strong>Automations\u201d<\/strong> button below the workflow name, as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13773\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/automations-for-slack.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Choose a trigger<\/h3>\n<p>Start by selecting Slack as the trigger for your automation, from the automation modal.<\/p>\n<p>For Slack automations, you can choose from these two triggers:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>When a task is checked then<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>When a workflow run is complete then<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Click the <strong>+<\/strong> button on your chosen trigger to get started.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s walk through examples for each of these triggers and their respective actions.<\/p>\n<h2>1 &#8211; When a task is checked<\/h2>\n<p>In this example, completing the task &#8220;Notify team&#8221; in our employee onboarding\u00a0workflow run, sends out a message to our &#8220;employee onboarding&#8221; channel in Slack.<\/p>\n<h3>Choose an app<\/h3>\n<p>Next, click the <strong>Slack<\/strong> icon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13778\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/select-slack.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Choose a task<\/h3>\n<p>Start by selecting the task in your workflow that will act as your trigger.<\/p>\n<h3>Choose an action<\/h3>\n<p>Select the action \u201c<strong>send a message<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13779\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/send-message-to-slack1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Authentication<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13780\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/authentication1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you select your chosen action, a pop-up window will appear and you will be prompted to choose an account to run your automation through.<\/p>\n<p>If it&#8217;s the first time you are connecting to Slack via Process Street, click \u201cNew authentication\u201d and another pop-up window will appear for you to be able to create your authentication. When you\u2019ve connected, you\u2019ll see a notification confirming this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You will need to disable pop-ups blockers to allow you to authorize an app. If you are unable to add the app, you may need to ask your IT team or workspace owner to install it for you or have them change the workspace permissions to allow you to install it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11373\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Slack-app-management-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you already have an account connected, then you can continue with the one shown, or select another account to add.<\/p>\n<h3>Configure message<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13781\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/slack-message1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, you\u2019ll be asked to select the field containing the body of the message you\u2019d like to send in Slack. Search for the name of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/form-fields\/\">Snippet form field<\/a> that you added to your workflow earlier. Click &#8220;<strong>Next<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<h3>Post location<\/h3>\n<p>Select the <strong>channel<\/strong> you would like to post your message into.<\/p>\n<h3>Post as user<\/h3>\n<p>Select to send the message either as yourself (as the authenticated user) or as the Process Street bot .<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re done, click \u201c<strong>Finish<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Activate this automation<\/h3>\n<p>Now you\u2019re ready to turn on your automation. Use one of the toggle switches shown below, to switch it on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13785\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/auto-on.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now every time your workflow run is completed, an instant message will be sent to your chosen Slack channel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9621\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Slack-checklist-complete-message.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Advanced<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to create a really robust integration with Slack, you might also consider using our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/slack-app\/\">Slack app<\/a>, which allows you to work on tasks and complete\u00a0workflow runs without needing to have Process Street open.<\/p>\n<h3>Edit an automation<\/h3>\n<p>To be able to edit the fields you have mapped in your automation, or change the triggers or actions, you first need to turn off your automation using one of the toggle switches.<\/p>\n<h3>Delete an automation<\/h3>\n<p>To remove an automation from a\u00a0workflow, you can delete it, but first, you will need to ensure that it has been switched off. Turn the toggle switch to the &#8220;off&#8221; position and then click the trashcan icon in the top right of your view to delete the automation.<\/p>\n<h3>Limitations<\/h3>\n<p>There are no filters, delays, or formulas built into automations at the moment. To be able to utilize these types of functions, you might want to consider using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/zapier\/\">Zapier integration<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<h3>Request another app<\/h3>\n<p>If you would like to request that we add another app to our automations, you can do that from the help button in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click \u201cSuggestions\u201d and send us your request.<\/p>\n<h3>Troubleshooting<\/h3>\n<p>If your automation stopped running, isn&#8217;t working as expected, or is showing errors, there might be a few reasons for this. Please check the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did you turn the automation on once you set it up? Each automation has a separate &#8220;on\/off&#8221; toggle switch<\/li>\n<li>Did you edit your\u00a0workflow, change or delete a form field that you were mapping in your automation? If you did, then this may cause your automation to stop running<\/li>\n<li>Did you edit your\u00a0workflow\u00a0but not save the changes? You need to have Published any edits to your\u00a0workflow to have the latest version pull through to your automation<\/li>\n<li>Each time your automation runs you will see a record of success or failure, in your run logs<\/li>\n<li>If you are unable to add the app, you may need to ask your IT team or workspace owner to install it for you or have them change the workspace permissions to allow you to install it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Run logs<\/h3>\n<p>You can check your automation run logs to see how your automations are running, or check for errors. You will find the automation run logs in two places, on your <strong>workflow<\/strong>\u00a0or on <strong>workflow runs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In your<b>\u00a0workflow<\/b>\u00a0on the automations tab, select an existing automation from the left side of your screen (highlighted in blue below). At the bottom of your page, you will see a list of all of the automation runs for that workflow. If your automation hasn&#8217;t run yet, you&#8217;ll see something similar to the below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/run-log.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In a <strong>workflow run<\/strong>, in the upper right-hand corner of your task list, you\u2019ll see the lightning bolt icon <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9446\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/lightning-bolt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/>. Click the icon to see the run logs for that particular workflow run.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any errors, click the word &#8220;Error&#8221; to expand more information on why your automation didn&#8217;t run.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13787\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/run-success.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lightning bolt icon will only show up on workflow runs that have automations configured on them. This is an automation&#8217;s idle state.<\/p>\n<p>When an automation is running, you\u2019ll see the bolt change to the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9447\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/recycle-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> icon.<\/p>\n<p>Once the automation finishes running, you\u2019ll see either <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/tick-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" \/> for success or <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9449\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/x-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\" \/> for failure.
