{"id":5852,"date":"2023-03-16T08:00:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T08:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/global-variables\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T13:35:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T13:35:29","slug":"global-variables","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/global-variables\/","title":{"rendered":"List of Global Variables"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/variables\/\">Variables<\/a> are an easy way of displaying &#8216;variable&#8217; information that is unique to each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/what-is-a-workflow-run\/\">workflow run<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Every workflow contains a default set of variables called <strong>global variables and Workflow variables<\/strong>, along with variables that represent any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/form-fields\/\">form fields<\/a> you have added to that specific workflow or any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/form-fields\/#using-data-sets-as-variables\">Data Set records<\/a> you have linked with a dropdown form field.<\/p>\n<p>Global variables are generic and pertain to the time when a workflow is run or who&#8217;s running it. Workflow variables are specific to details about that workflow run and are consistent across all workflows. Use them in automations, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/naming-workflow-runs\/\">workflow run names<\/a>, and default values \u2014 anywhere you see the magic wand.
