You can follow along with the instructions below, or start working on a different process that is more important to you, using these steps for guidance.<\/p>\n<h2>Let\u2019s get started!<\/h2>\n<p>Login to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/\">Process Street<\/a> and navigate to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/library\/\">Library<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Click the &#8220;<strong>New<\/strong>&#8221; button in the top right corner of your screen, then click &#8220;<strong>Workflow<\/strong>&#8221; as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13866\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/new-workflow.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note<\/strong>: If you don\u2019t see the \u201cNew\u201d button, you may have collapsed the side menu on the left of your screen (click \u201cshow menu\u201d to open it). Or you may need to ask your Administrator for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/docs\/user-permissions\/\">\u2018edit\u2019<\/a>\u00a0permission or to grant you permission to a folder in which to create your new workflow. Only admins can create new workflows in the home Library folder.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When the workflow editor opens up and you will see this view below. Highlighted are the parts you&#8217;re going to focus on to start building your workflow.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13867\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/blank-workflow.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve pointed out the key parts that you need to focus on right now since we will share with you how to add extra features and functionality later on.<\/p>\n<h2>Change your workflow name<\/h2>\n<p>Now let\u2019s change the name of your workflow.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the words \u201c<strong>Blank Workflow<\/strong>\u201d and change it to \u201c<strong>Opening the office<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Click \u201c<strong>Publish<\/strong>\u201d over in the top right corner of your screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13868\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/name-workflow.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Edit your workflow<\/h2>\n<p>Next, you&#8217;re going to <strong>edit your workflow<\/strong> so that you can add some tasks. Tasks are the steps in the process that you need each person to follow when they open the office.<\/p>\n<p>Click \u201c<strong>Edit<\/strong>\u201d in the top-right corner. This takes you back inside the workflow editor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13869\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/edit-workflow.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you can see that you already have three blank tasks in your workflow. You could start typing in the names of your tasks, but you&#8217;re going to do something a little different. Find out more below.<\/p>\n<h2>Add tasks<\/h2>\n<p>To add tasks you have three options:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Hit the <strong>Enter <\/strong>key on your keyboard to create new blank tasks<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>+<\/strong> button at the bottom of the task list, then select <strong>Task<\/strong> from the menu, to create new blank tasks<\/li>\n<li><strong>Copy &amp; paste<\/strong> a list of tasks from another place e.g. an existing process, or a list in Google Sheets<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Options 1 &amp; 2 require you to type the name of the tasks manually, one at a time, whilst option 3 allows you to add a list of pre-written tasks in one go, this is what you are going to do next.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copy the list below and paste it into Task 1.<\/strong> These become your new tasks:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Unlock the office<br \/>\nTurn on the lights<br \/>\nTurn on your computer<br \/>\nLogin to all your programs<br \/>\nCheck the answerphone<br \/>\nForward phone messages to colleagues<br \/>\nRespond to customer voicemails<br \/>\nCheck the postbox<br \/>\nDistribute mail<br \/>\nCheck your email<br \/>\nFeed the fish<\/p>\n<p>In the example below, we&#8217;re copying the same list, but this time from a Google Sheet. Now you can see how easy it is to start building a workflow when you already have some of the steps documented elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13870\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/task-list.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Delete blank tasks<\/h2>\n<p>If you find you have some empty or blank tasks that you don\u2019t need, you can delete these easily.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6241\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Delete-a-task.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Click on the task you\u2019d like to delete<\/strong>, and click the<strong> trashcan button<\/strong> in the task menu. This deletes tasks one at a time (you can also hit your backspace key to delete blank tasks)<\/li>\n<li>Or, you can multi-select tasks to delete in bulk, using the Shift, Ctrl or CMD key. Then hit the delete button in the center of your screen (as shown below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8153\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Multi-select-tasks-to-delete.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Rearrange tasks<\/h2>\n<p>Now you&#8217;re going to rearrange some of the tasks you just added.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13871\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/move-tasks.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the tasks you want to move and either use the <strong>up\/down arrows<\/strong> in the task menu (bottom left corner) or you can <strong>drag and drop<\/strong> them into place, by placing your cursor over the Task Number, which is located to the left of each Task Name.<\/p>\n<p>When you hover over the task number, you\u2019ll see this icon appear: <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/cursor-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"19\" height=\"19\" \/> Now you can drag and drop your tasks into place.<\/p>\n<p>You can also multi-select more than one task, to move blocks of tasks up and down (use your Shift, Ctrl or CMD key to do this).<\/p>\n<p>Notice that <strong>your work is auto-saved<\/strong> as you make changes.<\/p>\n<h2>Add headings<\/h2>\n<p>Headings are a simple way to break your workflow or tasks into sections.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at how to add two headings into your list of tasks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13872\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/add-heading.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add a heading by clicking the <strong>+<\/strong> button at the bottom of the task list, then selecting <strong>Heading<\/strong> from the menu. Give it a name: \u201c<strong>Outside the office<\/strong>\u201d. The recording above shows you how to do this.<\/p>\n<p>Keep the colon<strong> :<\/strong> at the right side of your text e.g.\u00a0<strong>Outside the office:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now you&#8217;re going to add another heading, and name this one \u201c<strong>Inside the office:<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro tip:<\/strong> If you add a colon <strong>:<\/strong> to the end of a task, it turns it into a heading. Remove the <strong>:<\/strong> and it turns back into a task.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drag and drop<\/strong> the two headings into place, or use the <strong>up\/down arrows<\/strong> in the task menu to move them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publish changes<\/strong> to your workflow by clicking on the green button (in the top right corner of your screen).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13873\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/publish.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Run your workflow<\/h2>\n<p>Now you&#8217;re ready to run your workflow! This allows you to work through the tasks, checking them off as you go.<\/p>\n<p>Once you publish changes to your workflow, you will see the &#8220;<strong>Run Workflow<\/strong>&#8221; button in the top right corner. Go ahead and click it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13874\" src=\"https:\/\/www.process.st\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/run-workflow.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you need to give your workflow run a name. Write in \u201c<strong>Open the office + Today\u2019s day<\/strong>\u201d (e.g. Open the office Monday) and click the green button underneath to run your workflow.<\/p>\n<p>Once your workflow run is open, you can start to work your way through, <strong>checking off all the tasks<\/strong>, until it is complete. You&#8217;ll know it&#8217;s complete when you see a shower of confetti.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it! Well done, you&#8217;ve built a simple workflow and run it \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Now you can run it again for different days of the week from the same workflow, or build another workflow and run that one as well.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s next?<\/h2>\n<p>Process Street&#8217;s capabilities extend <em>far beyond<\/em> simple workflows and runs like the one you just created.
