Emoji Aren’t Just For Fun: Using Emoji in Business Documents

Don’t you just hate reading internal business documents? 😴

They’re stuffy, dull, and aren’t optimized for human beings to read. No one opts to pop a mid-morning sleeping pill at their desk, but diving into your library of internal documents is probably about as soporific.

Here’s the strange thing:

There’s no shortage of data on the importance of visuals and how to write content that gets read, but when it comes to internal documents, it’s naively accepted that they can be incomprehensible, unappealing walls of text.

However, with emoji, processes can be clear, memorable, and visually appealing. Here’s a basic example in Process Street using Kurt Braget’s PILLARS system, combined with Emojipoint (another system of his):

17 Checklists for Life to Ring in the New Year

Checklists for Life

Organize Your Adventures With Process Street

The new year is bearing down upon us.

With it, resolutions and promises of personal change will fill our newsfeeds.

“This is the year I’m going to really hit the gym!”

“Committed to curbing my spending this year. No wasting my money on silly things!”

“Decided I’m going to travel the world at some point this year #goals #YOLO”

We can laugh at others, but we’re all guilty of it.

Despite all the promises made for New Year’s resolutions, the vast majority of us will fail to stick to our commitments – only 8% report being successful! Why is this?

It depends on each individual, but New Year gives us a time for reflection – a momentary pause in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. Those revelations found in that temporary calm can get lost when real life kicks back in.

You stop thinking about the promises you made and begin to settle back into your normal routine. To break that routine, something structured and goal driven is needed – something which pierces your existing schedule.

This is why we at Process Street have developed these checklists for life.

Sales will make or break your business

Outbound sales feed your team. Your cold-callers are foragers. Your senior sales staff are hunters.

They find the new clients and bring them back to the tribe of engineers and human resources staff who depend on them.

But we live in a more complex world than the hunter-gatherers of old, and with that comes the need for more complex processes.

The key to a successful sales process is understanding the overview.

There are lots of individual processes you can employ to improve different aspects of your sales and they need to fit together into a coherent sales narrative. Some call this narrative a sales funnel, and others a sales pipeline.

Use this Interactive Project Proposal Template (and Ditch Microsoft Word)

Project Proposal Template

When getting a project approved, you need to submit all pertinent information to stakeholders and then get their approval to start. This means listing the project’s background, timeframes and expenses in an easily digestible document.

Traditionally, this has been done in Microsoft Word or on paper, but by using Process Street you can generate as many proposals as you like just by running a checklist of this template and filling in the form fields. When the stakeholders sign off on the document, all they need to do is click the checkbox next to their name and Process Street will log the activity.

Check out the project proposal template below, and when you’re done, scroll down for a breakdown of the steps and how it all works:
