It is important to take steps to really STAND OUT!<\/h2>\n

LinkedIn allows very limited formatting such as using CAPS for things you want to stand out and special keyboard symbols.<\/p>\n

Create your profile in a word document and then copy and paste it into your LinkedIn Profile. Add symbols for things you want to stand out such as <\u2502 \u258c\u25ba \u25c4 \u2666 \u2022 \u2605\u2606>.<\/p>\n

Once you have your profile uploaded into LinkedIn, be sure to view it and make sure it looks the way you want and has no errors in it.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

Set Notify your network to NO when making many changes<\/h2>\n

When you are making more than one or two changes to your profile, you do not want to notify your network of every change you make. The setting is located on the right side of the page.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

LinkedIn will let you put up to three websites in your profile. Do not use their generic labels such as \u201cMy Company\u201d or \u201cMy Blog.\u201d Always click \u201cOther\u201d and change the words to describe what you offer. Write a personal Summary<\/h2>\n

You have a total of 2,000 characters in this section. Share who you are, what you do, who should connect with you and how you can help them. Be interesting, show a little of your personality and always end with a call to action. Tell them what to do next. It is important that this is written in first person and is NOT a boring bio.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Highlight your Current Experience<\/h2>\n

This is another great place to use your keywords, both in the title you hold at the company as well as in the description of what you do. The title is a very important section for search optimization (how people will find you on LinkedIn). Include the keywords and phrases you think others would be searching for when looking for someone who provides what it is you offer. You have 100 characters in the title and 2,000 in the description. Only list years do not include months. The more you have in here, the more connection opportunities you will create for yourself.<\/p>\n
