Confirm the AED device is available and easily accessible

Visually inspect the outside of the AED for any damage

Ensure AED is clean and free of dust

Check the AED status indicator light is green (ready to use)

Confirm spare battery is available and nearby

Ensure at least two sets of defibrillation pads are available and sealed

Ensure all necessary components such as razors, gloves, and barrier masks are available

Check the AED's visual and audio prompts are working properly

Verify the defibrillator's shocking capability

Make sure the AED is updated with the latest software and protocols from American Heart Association

Ensure there is a written plan in place for equipment and accessory maintenance

Check date of AED last service and maintenance
13
Schedule the next routine check-up for the device
14
Document all checks, inspections, and maintenance performed on the AED device
