Nursing Home Crash Cart Checklist

Check the outside of the crash cart for any visible damage or tampering

Unlock and open the cart to access the interior
3
Review inventory list for crash cart
4
Check all the drawers to ensure they open and close properly
5
In the first drawer, verify the presence and sealed status of intubation equipment
6
In the second drawer, confirm the presence and correct quantity of critical medications
7
Check the third drawer for the presence of IV supplies
8
In the fourth drawer, check the airway equipment and supplies
9
Inspect the defibrillator - ensure it is functioning and charged
10
Check additional items such as oxygen tank, suction devices, and personal protective equipment
11
Ensure there is a clipboard with patient log sheets for recording use of crash cart
12
Document any deficiencies found during the check
13
Review expiration dates of all medications and supplies
14
Approval: Clinical Supervisor
15
Restock any items that were missing or have expired
16
Lock the crash cart and note the time and date of the inspection
17
Attach a new tamper seal to the crash cart
18
Record and report the completion of the crash cart check
19
Take any malfunctioning equipment out of service for repair or replacement
20
Regularly review and update crash cart inventory list as per latest guidelines
