How to Enable Two Factor Authentication with Authy, Google, and Slack

Run this two factor authentication checklist when setting up your security settings across your key accounts.

Introduction to Two Factor Authentication:

Set up 2FA with Authy:

Download the Authy app

Enter your mobile phone number

Enter the email address of the Google account to use

Click the link in the text message or enter the code

Add a new Authy account with a backup password

Set up 2FA for Google:

Enter your My Account screen in your Google account

Click on Sign-in & Security

Enter into the 2-Step Verification screen

Follow the security wizard to set up 2FA

Generate backup codes

Save your backup codes as a note in your password manager

Set up Google prompts

Download the Google app

Log in with your Google account

Click to set up Google prompts again

Connect with Authy for when you are offline

Set up 2FA for Slack:

Enter into your Slack Account screen

Click to expand Two Factor Authentication

Select Setup Two Factor Authentication

Choose Use an app

Scan the barcode and enter the 6 digits in the box below

Save your backup codes to a note in your password manager

Log back into Slack on your mobile app
