Send Connection Requests
Send personalized connection requests to co-workers, clients and professional colleagues and well as potential prospects that you can find using LinkedIn Groups and the Advanced Search. Try to connect with 4 to 5 people every day.
Accept Connection Requests
Go through and accept or ignore the connection requests sent to you.
Before you accept a connection request you can send your Welcome message with the "Reply(don't accept yet) feature.
If you think the message is spam, click "ignore" and then select the "i don't know this person" or "This is spam" link.
Tag Your Connections.
After you connect with someone, be sure to add the appropriate tag to their profile as well as any notes or reminders.
Send A Thank You Or Welcome Message.
After some one has accepted your connection request, send them a thank you message. You should also send a welcome message after accepting every connection request sent to you by others.
Send Relationship Building Messages.
Continue building the relationship with new connections by sending them one or more relationship building messages over the next several weeks.
Update Your Status daily.
Update your status daily so you will show up in the news feed of your connections and appear active on LinkedIn. If you have a blog post, you can use the link to your post as your status update or you can link to another interesting article.
Participate In LinkedIn Groups.
Participate in and post a new piece of content to LinkedIn Groups once a week. This involves finding great content to share and taking the time to read content or comments posted by others and replying to these comments.
Post On LinkedIn Publisher.
Post once a week using LinkedIn Publisher to expand the reach of your content to your 2nd and 3rd level connections as well as position yourself as an expert in your industry. Be sure to only post high quality articles that are professional written. Include images and video when possible to make the content more reader friendly. There is no limit on the length of posts.
