EQUIPMENT:
Microphone vs. Phone: You can start recording with just the equipment you have on hand - but of course, the better your recording equipment, the better your production quality. In that case, consider purchasing a good quality microphone and pop filter to begin.
- Microphone: we recommend the Blue Yeti. It's a good quality, good brand plug-and-play microphone without a big price tag.
- Pop Filter: A good pop filter will not only catch the pops certain sounds make (consider 'peter piper', for example)
- Headphones: the Blue Yeti comes in a combo pack with the microphone, pop filter, and decent quality headphones at this link here.
Optional equipment to consider:
- Sound barrier - reflection filter. Helps minimize outside influences unintentionally captured by microphones. A fairly inexpensive option is available here. (Although, keep in mind that if you choose not to purchase a filter immediately, there are things that you can do to help ensure your recording is good quality).
