There are 8 Steps to Writing a Sales Video that converts:
There are several ways to “get attention” at the start of your video. This first step is absolutely crucial! If you don’t hook your audience and capture their attention, chances are they will click away for good. Don’t worry, a dessert-pooping fictional character isn’t the only way to do this; a simple question, interesting statistic, or a big promise is actually all you need.
Everything you sell must solve a problem. The bigger the problem, the bigger the demand to solve it, and the more your product will sell.
It’s not always enough to just identify the problem you will be solving, you have to twist the knife and go deeper. What happens if this problem goes unchecked? What are the worst case scenarios?
Just when the pain becomes unbearable, it’s time to relieve your viewers with the solution. Keep in mind the solution is not you or your product. If you want your audience to buy your product, they first have to agree with your solution.
The solution you present should create an inherent problem that compels your viewers to desire that new solution.
The answer is actually your product! Notice that this process follows the simple sequence of problems, solutions, problems, solutions. Immediately after you introduce your product, hit your viewers with a big, fat promise. This promise is the transformation your customer will experience because of your product.
Now it’s time to share all the wonderful qualities your product possesses, such as what it can do and how it can benefit its users. What can your product do for its customers? How can you demonstrate any other unique features or selling points? Most importantly, if you really want to put your selling on hyperdrive, make sure you clearly state the benefits. The best way to do this is to ask “so what?” after every feature you share.
Now that you have created enough desire for your product that your viewers are literally racing to their wallets and breaking their piggy banks, it’s time to tell them what to do next. Step inside your viewers’ shoes for a moment… they have just been introduced to your great product but still haven’t made the purchase. Usually this is because of one huge reason: they don’t believe your product will work for them. This is where social proof comes in. Social Proof includes endorsements, testimonials, case studies, and reviews.
All right. Welcome back, James Wedmore here. And as you already know, I've coached and advised thousands of entrepreneurs over the years. And there was one thing that I know with 100% certainty entrepreneurs come in two categories, the minority, the really successful ones and the majority, those who struggle and never make the kind of money that they deserve. Now,
I don't have to ask you which category you're in. You already know, and you may wonder why some are really successful and why most fail, but that's an easy question to answer. And the answer is whether or not you're operating like a digital CEO. If you're not being the digital CEO with the five core ingredients that we covered in this series, you don't have a business.
And it's really that simple. If you're in the category, that's always struggling or maybe you've been doing okay, but you know, you can do a heck of a lot better and watch this entire video. So let me use a car analogy to help you better understand these two categories of entrepreneurs and how this really applies to you. The second category of entrepreneur, the one who doesn't make it reminds me of my old fully refurbished, 1971 Volkswagen bus. No, on the outside, it looks great. But under the hood, what's powering, this vehicle is a clunky and outdated combustion engine,
which is why it is so slow. It's loud, extremely inefficient, and really outdated. And the first category of entrepreneur reminds me of my brand new Tesla, just like the VW. It looks great on the outside, but it's, what's on the inside. That really makes all the difference. So as you probably know, a Tesla is powered by an electric motor and this electric motor is almost four times more efficient than the combustion engine.
It's absolutely quiet. It needs a fraction of maintenance and it's considered one of the best made cars in the world. Now I know you already get the point. Working harder on an outdated model is a waste of your time. Finding a better, more efficient model is your only way to grow your business fast. Now, this makes sense. So why would you continue operating any other way and how much is this really costing you?
Well, let's make this real for you right now. Let's say you could make an additional hundred K per year in your business. If you listen to me, but you do the wrong thing and you don't, that means you could lose over a hundred thousand dollars per year for up to the next 20 years. Now you start to do the math there.
What are these outdated and inefficient ways actually cost you easy? It'll you at least $2 million. And are you okay with throwing away over $2 million? In fact, that's what first sent me down this road of all the weird booboo stuff that people call it, spiritual stuff. Manifestation principles was that I started to realize that it didn't matter how smart I was or how hard I was working. Cause I was using both all the brain power I had and all the physical power I had. Then I was still struggling.
I was struggling for a really long time. That's when I had to take a good hard look at my relationship with money, my beliefs about money and my stories about me. None of those changed overnight, but little by little, I softened my grip and I began to think differently about money and things began to change right late. Wayne Dyer said, change the things you think about the things you think about change.
And over the years, as I look back, I go, I'm a completely different person. My relationship with money is completely different and it's no wonder we've been able to build a multi, multi seven figure, almost eight figure business. And I continue to improve that relationship with money. And so I started looking at entrepreneurs that were struggling. I'm like asking those questions like we're giving them all the processes and this by design,

All right. Hello, James Wedmore here and welcome to this very special members. Only video training presentation that I put together for. You can see the title right here, video list, building secrets, or how I added 758 new leads with just one video on youtube.com. Now, if you're watching this, you are or should be a member of video traffic Academy.
And hopefully that you you've at least gone through the program. You've at least gone through a majority of the training. I know there's a lot of content. There's a lot of training, but I want you to be a little educated on how YouTube works and how we need to be creating content on YouTube, because this is some advanced training. And I'll tell you why right now you see when I created video traffic Academy,
I really focused on how we can reverse engineer YouTube, how we can generate more traffic from YouTube. And what I quickly discovered is I got to know my customers and students, you guys, and, and listen to your questions and talk to you inside of our Facebook group was that you needed a little bit more than just how to use YouTube, how to get ranked in YouTube,
how to get views on YouTube, because a lot of people are lacking that magic word of strategy. And what I've also seen is people having trouble connecting the dots, bringing it all together. How does YouTube connect with my product and my website or my blog and all this other social media stuff? How do I bring it all together and make it Connect and make it all work together?
And I see that as a huge problem. You're not alone. If that's, if that's your case, it's frustrates a lot of people. And so I really strive to teach that. And so a big problem was people saying, Hey, I did what you told her. I put up the video to put it up. Like you said, I did all the things you told me to do,
and I got views great, but there really isn't some view store that we can go. I mean, there's the YouTube partner program, but we can't really just go cash interviews at the end of the week and say, great, I made money. And obviously there's a lot more money to be made than the YouTube AdWords partner program. So I got views now,
what, and the really the question becomes, where do I send my traffic? You know, if we're getting views up and we've done the videos properly, and a portion of these views will convert into visitors to where, to where you want to send them. And I really don't talk about this in the course. Well, I'm here to do that.
Now the answer to that is a squeeze page or anything that's designed to build your list. So what's a squeeze page. A squeeze page is simply a single page that will capture the contact information of your viewers, of your visitors, and now convert them from a random person that stumbled upon your site into a warm, qualified lead that is in interested in what it is that you have to offer.
And to be honest with you, I mean, the biggest thing I can share with you right now is that no matter what you're doing online, one of the big reasons it's not working, that people are seeing frustration are spending way too much time on these social networking sites and not getting an ROI is because they're not focusing these social networking tools on the end goal of building a list.
And truly that needs to be your goal with everything is to get more people on your list. Now why I know I've done a lot of polls surveys asking people on webinars and emails and our Facebook group asking people about their list, building efforts. And most people, I talk to most people who come into our program don't have much of a list at all.
And it, it startles me because I see how crucial it is. I believe that without a list, you don't have a business and on the internet today in order to market effectively, we can't just be thrown out all our stuff there and say, buy this, buy this, buy this, buy this, buy my stuff, buy my stuff, buy my stuff.
We have to invest in our customers first, before they will ever invest in us. And that first investment means delivering content and value and building a relationship with them first. And the most intimate relationship we can have is through their email. And a lot of people say, no, no, I hear emails. Dead email, open rates are lower than ever before.
And there's all these other things, Oh, I can just have a Facebook fan page list and a Twitter list and friends list and a subscriber on YouTube list. And I say, those are all secondary or tertiary lists. Nothing is, will get as much response or Results still, and this has kind of been since the beginning of internet days as an email address,
that always needs to be our goal. And if you don't believe me, go look at anybody or any business that is successful online. And you will see a little lead capture device asking for a name and email on their website or their blog or somewhere where they have a web property. This needs to be our number one goal as you grow your list.
So does your business just, you know, some people say, you know, there's a proportion correlation between your, your income level and your in your list size. I definitely agree with that. Some people theorize that you can make a dollar per lead per month on average, if you're marketing to them properly. And so really there's, there's two things we need to be focusing on building a list and then building a relationship with that list.
Well, we can't build a relationship with Alyssa it's nonexistent. So what we're really going to talk about is how to build your list, need to be capturing the contact information. Otherwise these people are gone. We'll never see you again. So when I, when I realized how important this was, I kind of took it out as my duty to, to share this,
to be the person, to share this with you, because YouTube has been a fantastic list builder for me. So I started doing a lot of fun experiments, a lot of really cool stuff. And if you, if you know me, you know that all my YouTube videos are really just me being a Guinea pig for you. I mean a use what I'm doing.
What's, what's working and learn from me, copy me, swipe my stuff and use it to, to help you and your business. That's. That's why I do what I do inspire others through my actions. So I put up a video and boy, this was a couple of months ago and in 48 hours, that video got 1007 views. And,
you know, there were some tricks that I did a lot of social sharing, a lot of asking a few other influencers to get the buzz out, get the word out on my video. A lot of stuff that we talk about in video traffic Academy. And so if you go through and take action on what I teach in that course, you can get a video that gets a decent amount of views rather quickly.
And this happened in 48 hours, but we call it video traffic Academy for a reason. Why? Because we're sending those views off of YouTube and onto a website or a blog traffic, right? We're generating traffic from these views. So the big question is where do we send them? And like I said, we send them to a squeeze page. And that's exactly what I did.
You could find this video out here on YouTube. It's out there, stole my on my channel. And in those 48 hours, I took 1000 of those seven views, drove them to this squeeze page and was able to have 423 people submit their contact details and be added onto my email marketing list. That's over 40% of my views converting into warm leads who have voluntarily willingly given me their contact information,
pretty exciting. So that was one of the first experiments I did. I did something where I saw tremendous results from just one video. So like we should all do. And I really encourage you to is when you start to see things working, you want to investigate those further. You want to dive deeper. So I did a few more experiments tweaked with it a lot and really started to create a proven system for this.
So the next thing I decided to do was teach it and I actually put on and held a four week boot camp for I, I was, you know, a lot of people have no idea that I didn't know about the bootcamp. We just offered it to a very select group of students and, and, and members and, and fast action taking YouTubers and business owners,
video marketers in a four week bootcamp. And really, we took them through this four week program that was designed to do one thing, build and grow a list with video. Now what made this boot camp really stand out for me and be very unique for all my members. I said, look, I'm not just going to sit here and talk and say words and teach.
I said, I always feel that that, that actions, you know, they speak so much louder than words, but they also teach much better than words. So I decided to do a live case study video list, building case study, along with my students every week, they were taught a lesson and given an action item for the week with actual due dates to stay on top.
So that by the end of four weeks, they would have a complete video list building machine of video, out there on YouTube that organically and naturally continued to generate views. And then those views would be funneled into new leads or opt-ins for their list building efforts. And I said, you know, what, if I'm going to do this or I'm going to teach it,
I got to do it myself. So I started with an idea in my head, what would be a great video to do? And I came up with this one, it's on royalty, free music. Maybe you've seen it. It actually, you know, I uploaded on October 17th of 2012. And at the time of this video, it has over 10,500 views,
not bad. I didn't pay for those views. Those aren't fake views or anything else at all, natural organic views. And there's a lot of secrets that even, you know, they're all taught inside video traffic Academy, but some really cool stuff I did to make sure that I knew that video would get a lot of views. A lot of the stuff that I taught in this boot camp,
but here's the magic I was able. And this is actually one of the worst case studies I did believe it or not. How did we fare on this building? Well, here's a snapshot of my analytics and you can see I had total subscribers. So, you know, I get about eight. This is, you know, a month, two months later,
I'm still getting on average eight new people find the video and opt in every day, you can see yesterday and today, eight new people, but a total of 616 people subscribed. And then what I did, I was like, okay, that's, that's actually not that good. I mean, that was pretty low, but I'm still like, well,
616 people was actually, you know, it's a lot of people, but percentage wise, I was like, we could have done more. I could have done a lot more than, and I go into the, in the course why I thought the numbers were a little low, but it was, it's still worked. It's something I'm still very happy with.
And then I said, there's one more trick I want to do to put the list building on another set of steroids as you would call it. And on the final week of this four week bootcamp, I added another little trick, a little cherry on top to the whole strategy. And I even categorize this in another list so that I could track these leads separately.
And literally in just a few days, I was able to add, as you can see now over 142 new people to the list. Now, the reason I share this separately, and if you add these up is over 750 here, it was pretty exciting one video, but with this second list of 142 people, the thing that was so exciting is I probably had to do one little thing that took 10,
15 minutes at the most of my time in order to get those additional leads. And this is so important to share because so many times we get, you know, we go 99% of the way we do 99% of the work. And one more tweak, push millimeter shift of difference or action. And we can get so much more Results we always are.
I think it's just important to know you're always leaving money on the table. You're always leaving Results on the table and I want to be able to, you know, show you how to squeeze out those extra Results. So these were some pretty exciting results. And this, like I said, I did this over four weeks. I did it slower for people,
so they could, we could go at their pace and they didn't have to stress about getting this done. Now I've actually done this strategy a few times before this boot camp. And since then, and really I've got it down to a very simple system that I do, I can do every single week. Okay. And that's really the goal. If we really want a supercharger,
our list building efforts. And let me tell you, as I've exponentially grown my list, so has my income. And that's the most important thing to understand. We're not doing this for fun. We're not doing it. I mean, it's always nice about it is fun, but this isn't necessarily just a hobby. It's a business first, whether this is,
you know, if you're a business owner, who's, who's a nonprofit, we're S you're still there to raise money awareness, et cetera. And it starts always with list building. So I took these people through this bootcamp and the feedback was amazing. The results were amazing. Even from the students, they followed along, they were able to take action and get results.
And I said, so what can I do with this training? Because it went beyond video traffic Academy and it's this building is such a bigger thing. And it's so important Decided to Take the recordings of this four week boot camp and package it together for you guys. So let's go ahead and take a look at those. Now is this different then video traffic Academy? I think I've already addressed that through this presentation. It definitely is.
You guys watching this have all, at least have video traffic Academy. Maybe you haven't gone through it yet, or you haven't finished it. But the big differentiation is that this is a very specific strategy that we can use to build a list using just happens to be using YouTube. So a lot of what I talk about in the training is going to reference video traffic Academy.
What I like to do is don't, I don't want my courses to overlap. I don't want people to feel like they don't need one course, cause they have the other, I want them to all compliment each other. So I do recommend that you have at least a little bit of a knowledge of how YouTube works and obviously that's video traffic Academy before you go in and tackle this specific list,
building method that I put together for you. So is this different than VTA? Yes. It's more of a, like VTA a level two. It's like once you go through VTA you should definitely go to this because it's all about list building. Okay. Second question. How long do I have access to the course? It's the answer is absolutely. Yes. That's the way you need to be doing it. You know, I think there are some businesses that don't need to be on YouTube, but that's a whole nother conversation. However, we can all figure out a way to market ourselves on YouTube. That's what's so great. But if you've already made the decision to be using YouTube,
your strategy really needs to be, if I'm going to drive traffic from YouTube, where am I going to drive him? I'm going to drive them to a squeeze page in order to build my list. And then finally, big question I get from a lot of people say, well, what if I'm not building a list right now? Is this too advanced for me?
Is this, you know, do I need to take something before I take this? The answer is no. Oh, I do. You share all the tools and resources? What I, what I recommend for getting started with list building and stuff like that. You'll need to learn how to use those software and tools. Like if you're going to use something like a Webber,
a webber.com, you're going to have to learn how to use that. I do not teach that tool, but it's very user friendly. It's very simple to use. You'll have to learn that on your own. They have simple tutorials for you. But I think jumping right into the list building program is really going to help you get past that whole hesitation of like,
ah, I know I should build a list, but I'm just not there yet. Okay. So if you're one of those who haven't really started building a list, you haven't really jumped on the ball. You don't even have email marketing software or any type of list building software setup. This is really something you need more than most because I'm just, I can't stress enough how important it is.

[00:00:00] This may not be something that you want to hear but if you're an entrepreneur it's absolutely what you need to hear. And that's it. Working more does not mean that you're deserving of more. No one is going to just hand you success simply because you've worked for it because you think you've earned it. And that's because success for an entrepreneur has absolutely nothing to do with your work ethic. Or your effort. Despite what anyone else might tell you. Yet if You continue to measure your productivity by how long and how intense that you've worked yesterday or the day before well that's simply an unsustainable path straight to burnout. And a bankruptcy. I mean how many struggling entrepreneurs have you seen that are relying on their hustle and their work ethic who are in front of their laptops for 12 to 14 hours a day yet they have absolutely nothing to show for it. Heck, if you think about it, working hard it's actually really easy. I mean a quick motivational video on YouTube and an extra cup of coffee and anyone can use hustle as their competitive advantage. But what if you're hustling on the wrong things. What if all that massive action is being taken in the wrong direction. You see most entrepreneurs struggle not because they aren't willing to work harder and work longer but because they aren't willing to get to work on the hard things. You know those things that put everything on the line for you where you risk criticism failure and rejection. Those moments where you'll most likely get a big fat no. But as you already know it's only in those same moments

You see all successful entrepreneurs know the truth, that their accomplishments and success didn't come from working longer and harder or more intense than everyone else. But from how often they were willing to step out of their comfort zones and do the things necessary to get the results in their business. In short, while struggling entrepreneurs focus on work ethic and effort as a means to success, thriving entrepreneurs focused their work around accomplishing results. And when they do that, work or effort becomes completely irrelevant. Here look at it like this. Let's say you needed a piece of wood cut in half. OK. Would it really matter how long it took someone else to cut that piece of wood for you. Would you value that cut more if they spent 30 minutes hacking away at it with a handsaw. No of course not. You just use an electric saw. But how often are we approaching our business that exact same way as if doing it the hard way the long way will somehow prove something to someone else. I don't need to tell you that you don't need to prove anything to anyone in order to build the business of your dreams. So you have a choice. You can continue to work hard on all the little things and see very little growth if any and expect that one day something is just going to magically change or you can change now. You see when you are results driven you realize that working longer and harder isn't the path but working less on the hard things is.

And if you apply that employee mindset to growing your business, well that automatically sets you up for failure. In other words, what you learn in school, will keep you broke.

[00:00:22] And the public education system did a fantastic job of grooming all of us into good little hardworking employees. I mean think about it. Raise your hand, ask permission, do what you're told, wait your turn, and work hard.

[00:00:40] Well if that were the case, then everyone we knew that operated this way, that worked their tails off and waited for permission and did what they were told would all be successful.
[00:00:51] And we know, that's simply not the case. And that's because when you adopt an employee mindset to your business, your value gets tied to your effort. We all know that your effort is limited by the amount of time you have in a day and the amount of energy you have at your disposal and successful businesses get created by visionaries, by CEOs, not employees. Think about it. Visionaries take risks. They question everything. They break the rules. They innovate and they leverage. They don't raise their hand or ask for permission. They make it happen. If anything, they're successful because they adopted the exact opposite mindset.
[00:01:31] Now think about it. Find me any successful digital CEO who's built a thriving scalable business who thinks and operates like an employee. You can't!
[00:01:41] Because they don't exist. And now you know the difference. Which means, you have a choice.
