Introduction

We are going to create a document using a template. Our templates are in our Dropbox folder, some have been approved, some are in process. If you open the document you can see the it in the unfinished form. You can see that there's a lot of Gobblydygook stuff here, however, once we have the document done correctly it should be able to create a nice document for us that is consistent all the time. It is important to have consistency, so that each documents look the same for the most part going out of the office.

Creating Document from Template

Go to the client's profile on Clio.

Click on the client's matter.

Click "New"

Select "Document from Template."

Click on the the arrow to select the correct template. You can also use a keyword to make your search faster.

Uncheck "create Pdf."

Make sure to untick create pdf documents and just create word document, because in time there'll be somethings to add in and something to be taken out.

Create labelling system: year_two digit month_two digit date_CLIENT'S NAME-description of what it is (re what the letter is about)

Then hit "Create."

Check if the document has been created

After creating the document, wait for a moment, then we hit refresh.

When you hit refresh, it'll bring you back to the home screen. Then, you go to documents.

Click on the document and it will open up on another window.

It will then show up in the downloads.

Click "Enable editing."

On this particular document there are three things to edit.

In the re portion, it looks sloppy, so we take out the other person's name and just leave one name, and in this case, the remarriage of HOYLE and the case number.

Usually there is no more need to edit the person's name and details, but in this instance you can see that we do not have the opposing attorney's name properly set up in Clio.

We head over back to Clio.

We go to the client's dashboard.

Click on the attorney's name.

Then we click edit on her contact information.

We choose the correct prefix. Making sure to use Ms. if we don't know the correct prefix for women.

You can check out the info from the other documents of the client. In this instance the petition of the particular case.

Click on add address and fill in the information.

Click on "Update Person."

In this instance, since the document has already been generated, just copy the newly updated address to paste on the document.

Go back to the document

Paste the address.

Edit the address, using the correct formatting. All of our formatting should be justified unless specified otherwise.

Add the prefix.

Then, we type in the substance of our letter.
