Downloading WooCommerce
To download WooCommerce from their website, visit https://www.wordpress.com/
Click on the download button
Be sure ot save WooCommerce in a location you will remember
Navigate to the Plugins page located on the left sidebar in WordPress
By default you should be taken to the Installed Plugins page as a sub-section to Plugins, you need to go to the Add New page.
You can find it here
Click on the "Upload Plugins" button located at the top of the page
Click on "Choose File"
Navigate to the WooCommerce install file we downloaded earlier
Click on "Install Now" button lated just under the "Choose File" button
Click on "Choose File"
Click on "Activate Plugin" button to activate WooCommerce
We are going to install WooCommerce using the WordPress plugins page
Ensure you are logged into the website you wish to install WooCommerce on
Navigate to the Plugins Page located on the left sidebar
Click on "Add Plugin" button
Search for "WooCommerce" in the search bar
Click on the first one (Ensuring its developed by "Automattic")
Click the "Activate" button
WooCommerce is now activated
During this course we will cover how to navigate to the WooCommerce Setup Wizard if it didn't automatically appear upon installation of WooCommerce
If the WooCommerce Setup Wizard didn't popup automatically, do not worry.
I will show you how to access it manually
Proceed to WooCommerce located on the left sidebar
Click on the "Help" button, located at the top of the page
Click on "Setup Wizard" located on the left of the dropdown
Click on "Setup Wizard" button to start the setup wizard
The WooCommerce Setup Wizard should open
During this course we will cover different sections to each and every part of the WooCommerce Setup Wizard
Store Setup: the general information about your store.
ie. Location, Address, Currency, Type of product being sold
Lets have a look at the Address.
Determine what currency will be best suited for your target market
Decide what product you will be selling
click on "Let's Go" button to proceed to the next screen
Lets have a look at Payment Types
WooCommerce Setup Wizard doesn't display all payment gateways that can be used.

WooCommerce supports Offline Payment methods, such as, cheques, EFT, COD
Once you have figured out what Payment Gateway you wish to use.
Click on the "Continue" button at the bottom of the screen
Now we will look at the shipping units to be displayed for products. ie. kg, cm
Choose your preferred weight unit for your platform
Choose your preferred dimension unit for your platform
Click on the "Continue" button when you are ready to proceed
Recommended Addons
Automated Taxes: Powered by TaxJar, automatically adds tax rates specific to store country. You get to choose whether or not to add the tax to your prices or not.
Perfect for big stores
MailChimp: Used to create a list of subscribers to send automated emails to subscribers. Used to increase website activity and remind abandoned cart users to complete their purchase.
If you wish to skip this step, click on the "Skip This Step" button at the bottom of the screen
If you wish to add the recommended addons, click on the "Continue" button below
Here you will connect your site to Jetpack.
To activate Jetpack, click on "Continue With Jetpack" button
You should be taken to a separate page where you can create a free account on jetpack
Or you can create an account below
If you already have a WordPress account, you can skip the create account step
Once you have logged in, it should redirect you back to the setup wizard
WooCommerce Setup Wizard is now complete
Sign-up with WooCommerce marketing emails
You will receive information about updates and tips etc.
We will look at adding products in the next section of this course.
Here we will discuss the different types of products on WooCommerce, how they will be used and added
In this section we will go through each an every part to the Add New Product page with details of what its used for and why.
Lets first find our way to the Add New Product page
First, click on the "Products" button located on the left sidebar
Click on the "Add New" button
Lets start with the Product Name, this is the name displayed to the public
Lets add a description to our product, this is the general information for the public.
A description is important so people know a little more about the product they purchasing
Lets look at saving our product, we can either save our product as a draft for future or we can publish it to the public.
There is also an option to preview everything, which is important to get a visual idea of how it may look (We will look at the front end at the when we have fully covered the backend)
It is always important to categorise your products so users can easily navigate to move products like it.
My category for a Red T-shirt would fall under T-shirts category
Product tags are a very important part to your product. A product tag would be used for search engines on your website.
A simple product is the most common and easily-understandable product type in WooCommerce. A simple product is a unique, stand-alone, physical product that you may have to ship to the customer. To start with, you can create a simple product, assign a price & SKU for the product, and start selling them. eg: Books.
