Create a Webmaster Tools account and verify your site

If you have a Google Account, you can sign in to Webmaster Tools straight away.

In the Search Console home page, click the Add a property button and type the URL of the site

Click Continue to open the Site verification page.

Select a verification method to prove that you own the site and follow the verification instructions

If your site supports multiple protocols (http:// and https://), you must add each as a separate site.

If your site support multiple domains (for example example.com, m.example.com & www.example.com) you must add each one as a separate site.

If you support both www and non-www, be sure to specify your preferred domain (www or non-www).

Sitemaps are a great way to tell Google about the pages you own, and how often they are updated or changed. Get started with Sitemaps.

Goto your web property from GWT dashboard

On left had side menu, go to Crawl -> Sitemaps

Click on 'Add/Test Sitemap' button on right hand side

Enter your sitemap address and click submit

Check the sitemaps regularly for URL related issues and index status

Update sitemap regularly with recently added URLs (or use automated sitemaps like Sitemap by Yoast)

Check for Crawl issues and recommendations from Google

If you found any 404 pages, try to remove or make a redirection for such pages

On left hand menu, go to Crawl -> Crawl Status

Make sure crawling data is here

If you can't see crawling data, check your robots.txt to make sure website is accessible

Check the crawl status regularly

Check Google Index -> Blocked resources on GWT

Make sure all relevant pages have been indexed/ crawled by Google

Make sure you have blocked URLs for pages you don’t want the search engines to see like private pages, admin backend content, etc.

On left hand side of the GWT, click on 'Security Issues'

Check if there is any security issues found by Google

Work with web developer and hosting providers to clean the server from security.
