Up selling and Cross selling

Up selling is the ability to strategically position a superior product at a better price

If you sell all the low cost products you will generate lower profits. Before selling lower price products, always start with the best higher price products as you will show the customer that he/she deserves the best. Customer will buy a higher priced product if you believe that it fulfills the customer needs.

Start with the higher priced product and then if customer cant afford it, go towards low priced products

Cross selling is the ability to understand a good product is a full product. Cross selling means to sell complementary products while selling the main product.

Sales person does not ask the customer to buy the complementary product. For the fear that customer might cancel whole order but that is not the case instead he/she will still thank you for offering them that product.

Employees need training to cross sell and upsell products but do not practice on real customers. Practice in house to further enhance the skills.
