Help Video Production Process Example

First you need to decide on the topic the video will cover. Record the topic (along with any specific articles you have in mind for reference) using the form fields below.

Make sure that you create a Trello card next to track the project. Record the link to the Trello card using the form field below

Next, you need to script out the audio for the video. Do so in Google Docs and make sure that people with a Process Street account can both access it and have the ability to edit. This will save time, considering the time zones our teams work across.

Record the link to the script (along with a copy of the script) using the form fields below.

Now the script needs to be approved. This will usually be done by Vinay, and be sure to record any feedback given using the form field below.

Next you need to apply the feedback to the script, and get final approval.

Now that you have the final version of the script, the audio needs to be recorded using Audacity.

Make sure to tell everyone in your house / apartment that you are recording and to make as little noise as possible. Also, try to record at a quiet time of day if you live in a typically noisy area, and make sure that Audacity is set to record using the correct microphone. 

If you have any soundproofing (or really anything which you can surround the mic with to dampen  background noise, then do so. If you have a pop filter, use it.

Finally, make sure that you save the recording with a clear name and in a file which is accessible to the rest of Process Street (Google Drive is great for this). Also, ensure that the sound quality on your save is as high as possible.

Note that, if you know how, it's good practice to use the "noise removal" feature of Audacity combined with the "Compressor" in order to get the most out of your recording.

As with the script, the audio now needs to be approved in order to move ahead. Once again, record any feedback using the form field below, and remember that this initial recording may even influence the script, so be prepared to go back and edit.

Next, if necessary, you need to re-record the audio. Record a link to and copy of the new audio file using the form fields below.

Now the video segments need to be recorded. Ensure that your settings are standardized with the rest of your recordings in order to ensure consistency, and record a link to and copy of the video file below.

Now it's time to get approval on those raw video segments. Record any feedback you get in the form field below.

Now, if necessary, you need re-record the raw video and upload links below. These must also be approved, so don't progress past this task until you have your approved raw video segments.

Now the audio and video need to be edited together (this will usually also involve transition slides and the introduction). As always, record a copy of and link to the final video using the form fields below.

As with the script and audio before it, the final video needs to be approved. Record any feedback you get using the form field below.

Much like recording the raw video segments, depending on your feedback you may need to remake the final version of the video, and now is the time to do so. Record links to the final video using the form field below, and repeat this step until you get approval on the final result.

Next, you need to create the thumbnail which will be added to the Youtube version of the video. Record a link to and copy of the thumbnail using the form fields below.
