Adding New State and Cities

Bulk create new city pages in each category on the website using the above template.

1. Use the Replace function to quickly find and replace all filler information.

• City name placeholders exist in the template as "city1" and "City1"
• The state name exists as "State" and "state"
  • NOTE the capitalization of the two instances of each city and of the state name. Maintain the capitalization for visual formatting by marking 'Match Case' in Excel's replace function.

2. Delete or create additional city rows as needed.

Maintain all field data aside from the E and I columns and replace text as needed.

3. Save all changes in CSV format

Once you've completed all changes to the template, save the new spreadsheet in CSV format for upload to the website.

Login and Go to WP CSV > Import

Choose the new CSV you just saved and click the upload button to begin creating the new city pages.

1. Open the Main Business Directory Page to Edit

2. Add a Blank State Row

See below image to quickly insert a new state template block.

3. Edit the Template State Row

See below image for points to edit.

1. Change the Row ID (stateNameHere) to the appropriate state name to be used as an anchor tag.
   • Remember this ID. You'll need it in the next step.
2. Modify the Custom Heading block to reflect the new state name (e.g. Michigan)
3. Edit the Raw JS block, replacing all instances of STATENAME with the corresponding state.
4. Replace all instances of "state" in the image and text links.
   • Do this for each column in the row. This creates links to the newly uploaded pages. Do so by editing each text block in "Text" mode, not "Visual"

4. Update Page

1. Go to the Business Directory Map - Edit

2. Edit the Javascript Section - Make a State Link

In the Javascript editor, scroll to find the ID of your newly created state. It will be formatted as US-XX, where "XX" is the state abbreviated code.

1. Change "myURL" from a blank hash (#) to the Row ID you created in Step 3: it must include the # (e.g. #michigan) for the anchor link to function.
2. Add color:"#7A9BCE" to the state
3. Save changes

(See image below for example) Be sure that all formatting is the same as other completed states, including comma and quotation placement.

Navigate to the live version of the Business Directory and confirm your updates are error free.

Click on the now highlighted state icon in the map, verify links function properly and confirm the links in state category pages are also functioning.
