Essential Start

Did you read all of the content in the Getting Started module? 

The information presented in this module is provided to help new students learn what to expect at Great Falls College MSU. The module covers topics such as: ReadSpeaker, important documents to locate on the first day of the semester, attendance and participation expectations, "netiquette, and academic integrity. 

If you haven't read over the documents in this module, we recommend that you do so as soon as possible. 

Have you completed the Brightspace module? 

The topics covered in the Brightspace module are designed to help new students become comfortable with our learning management system, Brightspace. We cover topics such as: notification options, navigating through the course content, tips for using Brightspace email, submitting assignments, discussions, quizzes, and more! 

In addition to reading and viewing the content in this module there are a few activities that must be completed in order to successfully complete Essential Start. Did you: 

Did you watch the videos in the Academic Success Center module? 

Our Academic Success Center (ASC) provides tutoring services to students both on campus and online students who cannot come to campus. 

The videos in this module offer study tips and time management skills training that could be useful whether you have recently attended school or have been out of school for 20 years! 

Did you view all of the materials in the I.T. Services Orientation module? 

The Information Technology Department at GFC MSU is always looking for new tools and services that would benefit our students, staff, and faculty. 

This module introduces students to some things that the I.T. Department wants students to know about the technology used on and off campus, an introduction to the student email system used at GFC MSU, and instructions for installing Microsoft Office 365 for free. 

Did you watch the videos in the TRiO Presentations module?

The videos in this module are presented by Marty Foxman, our Equal Opportunity Center representative. He discusses college readiness and provides students with a glimpse into what to expect as a new student as well as some useful tips on how to be a successful student and a lifelong learner.  

Did you view the content provided in the Need To Know module? 

The video presentation in this module introduces students to the services provided by Student Central including Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Admissions, as well as some of the other services provided to students on and off campus, such as the Academic Success Center and Disability Services. 

Did you view all of the content in the Financial Literacy & Entrance Counseling module? 

If you are a student who is utilizing Federal Financial Aid to pay for college, you are required to complete this module and the activities included in it. If you have not completed it yet, please be sure to do so immediately. If you have any questions about this module, please direct them to the Financial Aid Department.
