Introduction

This process is an updated version regarding credit card payments. It is a revised procedure for new and old accounts, but still need to use the both method, so we have to keep handy, and Clio has the ability to run payments with credit cards that are stored in there; thus, it gets stored in Clio.

The balance, pending payment and etc. can be seen there.

New Credit Card Processing

Brian has to enter the information, and for security purposes, he is the only one who has an access to enter the cards on the initial time because this way, it protects the potential identity after anything and make sure that any responsibilities fall on him.

The total, total expenses, accounts receivable, client trust funds, matter trust funds, etc. are located on the metrics section.

Choose the corresponding detail from the destination section.

Place the amount on the payment box.

Edit the description if necessary then proceed tot the billing information by clicking the blue icon.

In the billing information, look for the oldest bill outstanding and credit card payment then look for the amount.

Since the card is already in there, all you have to do is to confirm. This would eliminate a couple of steps from the other procedure.

Because the other procedure is a recap, go in the long way, find the transaction, run it and apply the bill payment.

New Trust Request

For other clients that may have not an outstanding bill, Clio has now a way that you can request for a new trust payment. Some clients set up their program where they may have to pay weekly or monthly amount to get started, but they may not have an outstanding bill.

In new trust request, place the amount on the amount box and skip the approval process then create a new trust request.

Do the simple credit card that was done before and the money will be applied to the trust account; however, if the client has a balance, billing information should have credit card right there then confirm.

Some older clients may not have other information on Clio, so you have to write something using the old method. Also, there are cases that they may have their information on Clio, but it does not allow too small of payments.
