Professional Skills Development Plan

This process outlines a professional skills development plan. The goal of this process is to provide monthly, annual, and 3 year accountability to ensure that skills are being developed within the staff, the leaders, and the nonprofit as a whole.

Target Skills for Staff:

Target Skills for Leaders:

1. Management

2. Vision Casting

3. Community Engagement

Target Areas for the Nonprofit:

1. Sustainability

2. Community Engagement/Collaboration

3. Fundraising/Development

Run this process for staff monthly check-in's. Staff will report to their directors. Directors will report to the Executive Director. Executive Director will report to the Board.

Run this process for a planning retreat every 3 years. The purpose of this planning process is for the nonprofit to get together to project where the organization is headed. 

Receive annual reviews from the past 3 years from all department heads. Compile brainstorming topics from department heads

From the feedback from department heads, establish the focus topics and goals for the planning retreat. Narrow down to 3-5 topics/goals for discussion during the retreat.

At this point in the process an outside individual (or consultant) needs to facilitate the brainstorming sessions at the retreat.

After the planning retreat, executive director and the board will meet to begin a plan of action with the new ideas.
