Workforce Planning Template

A workforce planning template paints a picture of what the workforce is doing, versus where it wants to go. It merges this picture with the company’s strategic goals to predict shortfalls in current staffing.

It’s basically a plan for making sure the business has the right staff, with the right skill sets, at the right time. 

It's a critical business process which shouldn't be ignored.

Do you remember the summer of 2012? The greatly anticipated London 2012 Olympic games?

I do. Up until now, my recollection of the games was a good one. Crowds of people, warm weather, a buzzing atmosphere, and feelings of pride and excitement. As far as I knew, it went super smoothly.

Little did I know what was happening behind the scenes. 

The Olympic committee were in dire straits. They hadn't anticipated the number of people coming in and out of London. The city and Olympic Park were fit to burst, but they were massively short on people to manage the growing crowds.

Emergency calls were made to the British Army and hundreds of military personnel trooped in to save the day and keep the streets safe.

Disaster averted, and people like me were none the wiser. I can't say the same for the people on the Olympic committee though. They had to pay over £80 million in penalties, because they failed to plan their workforce!
