Compare Page Revisions Before You Publish or Discard

A saved draft on a page used to mean guesswork. Was it a quick typo fix or a sweeping rewrite? The only way to find out was to publish it—or discard it and hope for the best.

Page revision comparison puts that uncertainty to rest. Now you can see exactly what changed, word by word, before you commit to anything.

What it does

Two comparison modes give you full visibility into page changes:

  • Compare with published — While a page has an unpublished draft, open the … menu in the editor to see a side-by-side diff of the draft against the live version. Know exactly what the draft changes before you publish or discard it.
  • Compare any two versions — In Revision History (available on orgs with Version Control enabled), select Compare on any version, then use the From and To pickers to view differences between any two published versions.

A smarter diff

The comparison view goes beyond simple block-level highlighting:

  • Word-level changes — An edited paragraph highlights the specific words that changed, not the entire block.
  • Row-by-row table comparison — Tables are compared row by row, so removed or modified table content is easy to spot.
  • Rich content support — Images, files, embeds, and workflow links all appear in the comparison view.

How to compare a draft with the published version

  1. Open a page that has an unpublished draft.
  2. Click the … (more options) menu in the editor toolbar.
  3. Select Compare with published.
  4. Review the highlighted differences, then decide whether to publish or discard the draft.

How to compare any two versions

  1. Open a page and go to Revision History.
  2. Click Compare on a version.
  3. Use the From and To pickers to select the two versions to compare.
  4. Review the word-level diff to see what changed between them.

Who can use this

Page revision comparison is available now on all plans. The Compare with published option appears whenever a page has an unpublished draft. The Compare any two versions feature requires Version Control to be enabled for your organization.
