Sync Changes

The Sync Changes feature of workflows enables you to make changes to a duplicate of a workflow and then sync those changes back to the original workflow that you made your duplicate from (i.e. the source workflow).

This feature can be used to allow you to make changes to a workflow and test them without interrupting your team members. You simply duplicate the workflow, make edits to the duplicate, and then use Sync Changes to copy those edits to the source workflow as a draft revision. This is similar to the branching and merging features of tools like GitHub.

You can only use Sync Changes if the source workflow is in the same organization as the duplicated workflow, and you have edit access on the source workflow and read access on the duplicated workflow.

When you use Sync Changes, the following content will be copied to the source workflow:

• All new tasks, widgets and form fields
• All new positions of tasks, widgets and form fields if they are re-ordered (e.g. task 3 is moved to the top of the task list)
• Any changes to the names of tasks, any content changes of widgets (i.e. if an image is changed or the text is updated), any labels or default value changes
• Any removal of a task, widget or form field
• Any updates to assignments or role assignments
• Any updates to due dates or dynamic due dates
• Any changes to conditional logic rules
• Any changes to approvals
• Any changes to the default name of the workflow run
• Any changes to custom notifications
• Any changes to cover icons or images
• Any changes to task permissions

The follow will not be copied:

• Any internal automations like Salesforce, Jira, etc.
• Any external automations via Zapier, Make, PowerAutomate, etc.
• Anything not normally copied when you use the Duplicate feature
