Need to reference a specific workflow or workflow run by its unique ID? Two new variables — Workflow ID and Workflow Run ID — make that information available directly inside your workflows, no external tools required.

What changed

Until now, retrieving a workflow’s ID or a workflow run’s ID meant reaching for a Zapier Zap, a Power Automate Flow, or a direct API call. That extra step added complexity, especially when all you needed was a simple reference ID to pass along in an email, log in a form field, or send to an external system.

Now, Workflow ID and Workflow Run ID are available as built-in variables you can insert anywhere variables are supported — text widgets, email widgets, form field default values, integration links, and more.

How to use the new variables

1. Open a workflow in the editor.
2. Click into any text area that supports variables (for example, a text widget or an email widget).
3. Type {{ or click the variable insert button to open the variable picker.
4. Select Workflow ID or Workflow Run ID from the list.
5. Save and publish your workflow. Each workflow run will now populate the variable with the correct ID automatically.

Where this helps

• Tracking and auditing. Include the Workflow Run ID in emails or form fields so you can trace actions back to a specific run.
• Integrations. Pass the Workflow ID or Workflow Run ID to external systems via webhooks or integration links — no Zap or Flow needed.
• Custom reporting. Use the IDs as reference keys when exporting data or building reports in external tools.

Both variables are available on all plans and work everywhere that existing workflow variables are supported.
