5 Checklists to Help Life Coaches Transform Their Clients

life-coaches

Sometimes we all need a helping hand, whether it be choosing a meal at a restaurant or figuring out how to achieve our career ambitions.

When it comes to life itself, well, most of us are never really sure if we are on the right track, especially in today’s world where opportunities are endless and everything is moving at breakneck speed.

It can all feel rather overwhelming.

An increasingly popular method of addressing the general hardships of life is to work with a life coach – somebody tasked with helping you identify your goals and developing an actionable plan to achieve them.

In short, life coaches are there to help you address the big issues and challenges that life presents, so you can move forward with your head held high.

On the other hand, by taking on the role of a life coach, you must possess the qualifications, skill, and expertise to effectively encourage your clients to clarify their ambitions and provide them with the tools they need to pursue them.

We’ve gone ahead and created 5 checklists designed to empower life coaches and their clients so that both parties get the most out of the coaching process.

3 of the checklists are modeled after processes created by a handful of world-renowned life coaches – Brian Tracy, Lisa A. Romano, and Tony Robbins. The remaining two are more general checklists that can be used in almost any context.

If you want to dive in and go straight to the checklists, there are quick links right below. Otherwise, scroll down for a brief intro to each one.

Burnout: How I Beat It, and How You Can Too

burnout process streetPush through this week and you can take it easy when things ease off.”

I’ve made the mistake of working up to and beyond the point of burnout. In my first few months with Process Street I worked so much that I almost quit through exhaustion.

It shouldn’t have to get that bad before we recognize that burnout is a very real danger for any and every employee.

Skyrocketing blood pressure and a lowered immune system are common signs of burnout. A cold might knock you down for two weeks instead of two days“, Tony Robbins on the effect of stress and burnout on physical health, How to Recognize Burnout Symptoms Before It’s Too Late

Anyone can suffer from burnout, leaving them physically and mentally exhausted, compounding other small issues into impassable roadblocks, killing productivity and even making them more vulnerable to illness.

Then, if the stress is high or the burnout consistent enough, they’ll quit.

Hiring is expensive, let alone the bad press you’ll get for a team member quitting due to preventable work stress and burnout. Heck, that’s not even counting the productivity loss while the employee is still with you.

Don’t let that happen.

From my own personal experience and the stories of others, I’ve put together this post to show you exactly what burnout is, how to fight it and how to prevent it whether you’re an individual or a team.

Let’s get stuck in.

We live in a hyper-connected digital world that glorifies multitasking – it’s the only way to get everything done when there are so many things to tick off our seemingly endless to-do-list. Keeping ourselves busy means we are being productive, right?

In many cases, the answer is a big, fat no.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but keeping a to-do-list and focusing your sole effort in knocking as many items off that list can actually hold yourself back from achieving your bigger, more meaningful goals.

How so?

Let’s dig a little bit deeper, and provide you with some to-do list tips that will get you on the right track.

6 Desk Yoga Techniques to Feel Better and Live Longer

desk yoga

Office work isn’t just monotonous – it’s outright deadly if you don’t take steps to combat the fatigue that sitting brings. When sitting for half the day approximately doubles the risk of diabetes and heart problems, you need to do something about the time you spend working.

That’s where desk yoga comes in.

Approximately 3.2 million deaths each year are attributable to insufficient physical activity” – World Health Organization, Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health

The dangers of sitting are all too obvious, with studies showing links to everything from an 11% rise in the chance of dying per extra seated hour to increased risk of various types of cancer. To combat this, you need to be regularly stretching and moving in ways that most don’t bother with.

So, after years of personal experience with yoga classes, books, self-practice, and scouring the contents of some of the most popular free yoga resources on the internet, I’ve compiled a list of desk yoga exercises to help you stay alive and stretchy at your desk.

  • Seated crescent moon
  • Hand exercises
  • Neck rolls
  • Shoulder circles
  • Forward fold
  • Sun salutation (the full body workout)

Enough chat – let’s get started!

17 Unique Daily Rituals from the World’s Best Creatives & CEOs

daily-rituals-banner-2

You might think I’m about to tell you to get up as the sun rises, sit down at your desk and work until you can’t work any more. That’s probably because you’ve heard advice like this pretty often…

In fact, Slate writer Mason Currey says that after reviewing 161 daily rituals, the key lesson you can extract is:

“Get up early and go straight to work, making a cup of coffee if you like but not doing much else before sitting down.”

This is something I strive to achieve, usually having a run and a coffee before getting down to it. I find that if I let myself get caught up in tasks that have no clear end before I start working, it kills my whole day.

When I’m working, I’m happily open to distractions — anything from having the TV on in the background to making a run to the shop — but I always get up early to smash those vital tasks out of the way first and then take a more relaxed approach to the afternoon.

This doesn’t work for everyone. In fact, Currey says it’s only around one third of people that can do it. Maybe you can take inspiration from some of the world’s best minds and adjust your daily ritual for success.

Polyphasic Sleep: When Productivity Becomes Madness

polyphasic sleep

It sounds like a miracle pill or silver bullet. Polyphasic sleep. How to rest for two hours a day with no ill effects.

Imagine everything you could get done with that free time! No more rushing for work deadlines, wishing you could read that book that’s been haunting your bag for a year, or trying to find time to just relax.

Unfortunately, as with most miracle solutions, polyphasic sleep has major associated health risks and little in the way of proven benefits. Most of its good press is down to urban myths and overestimating the positives.

We don’t sleep just for the hell of it – humans need solid rest to process the information gained in waking hours and properly order memories. Unfortunately, the idea of periodically napping throughout the day to replace regular sleep is consistently brought up in productivity discussions.

An hour on the dream machine keeps me sane.” – Gustav Graves, a literal James Bond villain, talking about his sleep schedule and glowing light mask… thing

The idea is nothing if not persistent, however, and so below we’ll dive into the theory behind polyphasic sleep, the alternative sleeping schedules you can try, and what the best way to get more out of your day is.

Let’s get started.

How to Get Inspired and Have Killer Ideas Without Trying

How to Get Inspired

We’ve all had those days. No matter how hard you try, you can’t focus. Everything is harder than usual and heaven forbid anyone needs you to be creative.

It’s demoralizing, stressful, and makes you incredibly inefficient. That’s why it’s important to know how to get inspired.

A word of warning, however, as this post will give you techniques to help consistently find your inspiration. These tips won’t always work (everyone’s muse is different) and so it’s best to take these practices and experiment to see what works for you.

We’ll cover useful practices such as:

  • How to keep a positive mindset and be more productive
  • Actions to inspire you whether you’re alone or with others
  • How to recapture that spark once it starts to fade
  • Changing your routine (how, when, and why)

But enough blabbering – it’s time to get inspired!

What Is Zapier? The Essential (Unknown) Time Saver

How to Automate Your Business and Personal Life

There’s always something which can make your life easier. Whether you’re stuck watching infomercials at 2 am through lack of sleep or discovering the wonders of the gimmick section of your local supermarket, the idea of a faster and easier path saturates every part of our daily lives. Even the coffee sitting on my desk could be seen as part of this hunger for convenience; I didn’t grind the beans myself, after all.

‘Typing “how to get rich quick” then hitting the search button on your PC will give you different (and even ridiculous) ways of making a dishonest living’Charlene Sampilo

Now, here at Process Street, we know just as well as anyone that, more often than not, any offer of help we are given with a too-good-to-be-true scheme turns out to be flawed. The ads that you see on clickbait sites, running along the lines of “I made $570 in 6 hours, and so can you!”, or some such nonsense, prey on this desire to save some of the time and effort we put into earning our daily keep.

Despite all of this, finding easier methods and time-saving skips isn’t a bad thing. The desire for efficiency without extra effort can be incredibly useful in having a better day-to-day life, whether it takes the form of dodging traffic by taking the backstreets on the way to work or saving hundreds of dollars by going to a single price comparison website.

Well, now you can take full advantage of the power of programming even if you have no experience or technical skill with computers. This little application will allow you to automate your emails, manage your social media accounts and much, much more, with the bare minimum of setup time.

We present you with Zapier.
